Im in the process of buying a car for the fist time and need advice on negotiating he’s asking 3700?

How do I start. I was thinking about 2200 and rising, but not more than 2800 or 3000. Its a 04 with 92830m Aveo, music player, has no windows or locks pw, its an automatic, may have some flaws, and lack a hubcap. Is 2200 a reasonable offer or starting place? If not? KBB: 3550 (good) 3075 (right) NOTHING: 2525 (average trade in value) Thanks for your help and advice!

2200 is good. show him the NADA price and if he doesnt go down in price see how much he knows about cars and if he doesnt look in the engine and make up things that eather look, feel, or sound bad.

When you research car prices the only price you need to pay attention to is the wholesale or trade value. Ignore the private party and retail prices.

Your goal is to get the car for the lowest possible price so start at wholesale and work up from that.

If the car is worth 2525 I would set my bottom line price somewhere near that price. 2200 is not a reasonable price based on the NADA trade value.
