Don’t tell the salesman you “love this car”….he knows you’ll probably buy it regardless of price.

Tell the salesman you’re “looking and comparing”….he’ll know he has to sharpen his pencil if he’s gonna get your business.

Finally, make sure the salesman has your phone number. Don’t buy the day you’re looking….let him call you back in a few days. I saved $6k on my new truck by waiting 4 days.

If you want to get a good deal, don’t buy a hot seller. The sales people know that if you don’t buy it, the next person will. If you have lots of time, find 5 cars at a dealership and write down the stock numbers…if any of those cars are there in 90 days, they are paying interest on them to the bank and may “break even” on them just to get rid of them. Also, if you have a trade in, go to http://www.kbb.com to see what you can expect to get on your trade.
